Well I've just found an undocumented feture of sametime aware names columns in views. In R8.5 you are only able to have one names column showing the online status. You can set the "Show online status" check box on as many columns as you want but it will only work for one. Supprisingly that one column will be the right most enabled names colun in the view.
As usual this limitation is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation, help or online forums.
It's a great feature but a shame about the limitation and the lack of documentation of it.
